IIMD staff provide individual one-on-one counseling and group instruction in the core competency areas of credit, debt management and debt reduction, budget, saving and checking accounts to low-income individuals. Our goal here is to move individuals from a sense of financial literacy – understanding the US banking and credit system – to a sense of financial empowerment – where individuals exhibit agency and mastery of their own money management skills, systematically contribute to their own wealth generation, and consistently stay on track with balancing their income and spending.
FINANCIAL EMPOWERMENT CLASSES
The purpose of the class is to help adults understand:
1. Why should you use a checking account?
2. How do you create a budget and manage your money?
3. How can you protect your finances and identity?
4. What is credit? How do you a apply for credit?
5. And much more!!!!
